And we’re back!
We finished our inaugural season at the campground with our lives and limbs intact!

Now that the campground is closed, I can get back to my regular writing rhythm. Which isn’t to say I didn’t keep myself busy creatively over the spring and summer. I do a lot of lawn mowing in the spring and summer months, which gives me time to reflect on the projects I have on the go. During those evenings when I wasn't ready to simply shut down for the day, I even managed to get some work done on existing projects and start some new ones.
One of the most exciting things I spent my creative time doing is reading through the first draft of my second novel for the first time. A little over a hundred pages in, I’m glad to report it’s kept me interested and engaged. That may sound like it should be obvious but it can be tough to appreciate one’s own work!
I’m not going to share any details about the novel right here and now and don’t really have a print date set so we’ll all have to exercise some patience with that one.
What I can share more about is my upcoming novella, which I wrote just before the start of the camping season and have been diligently rewriting and revising. It’s a quick, fun, and sorta grotesque story about dessert and family. I think it’s pretty entertaining. The idea is to have this one out before Christmas and I’m firing on all cylinders to make that happen!
My aim is also to get back to regular blog posts here on the website as my writing muscles warm up. Maybe semi-regular posting is a more realistic commitment. So I guess that’s good news if you enjoy reading these.
Meantime, you can follow me on Instagram and Facebook - @authorchristophersweet and / or sign up for my email newsletter, which comes out with much less regularity than the blog and bestows its subscribers with early announcements about new projects and release dates ahead of all those “other” channels.
Looking for other reading material in the meantime? You can check out my new Halloween feature article in Mystery & Suspense magazine here.
Have you read The Boy in the Canvas yet? The Kindle version is only $3.99 USD / $4.99 CAD right now! Click here for a free preview of the book if you want to try before you buy.
I also want to give a shout out to my friend M Willis Wardle and congratulate him on the release of his debut novel, The Chilling Adventures of the Monster Kids. If you were ever a fan of Goosebumps, Monster Kids will be right up your alley. Join Bradley Wardwell as he takes on a new job as a dishwasher at a supposedly haunted restaurant, plots against an ancient vampire, and dodges the claws of a pack of werewolves. This book is jam-packed with monsters and is a ton of fun! Geared towards kids from age 7-12, it makes an excellent Christmas gift and a super fun read for both kids and adults.
That’s all for today. As always, don’t hesitate to drop me a line or leave a comment with your thoughts or just to say hi.
Thanks for reading and have a safe and happy Halloween!
